Bournemouth was voted the UK's second happiest city, according to a 2013 Instagram survey carried out by Jetpac. As a large coastal town, Bournemouth is a tourist and regional centre for leisure, entertainment, culture and recreation. It has a thriving youth culture, thanks largely to the university population and diverse range of language  school students. Bournemouth is also known for its nightlife, with UK visitors flocking to visit the many clubs, bars and restaurants located within the town centre. Bournemouth has excellent local transport links, with regular bus and train services, plus an international airport located around 4 miles from the town centre.

Westbourne is located in between Branksome, Poole and the centre of Bournemouth, just off the main A338 which provides easy links to Christchurch, Ringwood and the M27. Westbourne is an affluent residential and shopping area, boasting a unique mix of small cafes and locally owned shops, as well as a Marks and Spencer Simply Food store. Many of the shops have residential property above them. The main high street of Westbourne includes a Victorian covered shopping arcade linking the two main roads, Poole Road and Seamoor Road. Westbourne is also home to the head office of the Liverpool Victoria Group which employs around 1600 staff. Westbourne boasts a buoyant rental market, with a number of excellent flats available to rent.
